Welcome to TheTownPeople.com and thank you for taking the time to explore our site!
TheTownPeople.com started as a personal curiosity to learn about Frederick. With two small kids, we are always looking for things to do and ways to be involved. Our first step is usually the internet to see if we can find something that we can’t completely remember the name of, that someone told us they did once, and it WAS GREAT! But, life is busy and the internet is VAST, so finding that allusive great activity has lead to many dead ends; or worse, Kentucky, Wyoming, and even Canada. Nothing against any of these places, they are simply all outside of our driving radius for a Saturday afternoon.
So as we continued to search local websites, local papers, and local organizations, what we found more times than not, was a great big hole in information; and a LOT of ad clutter. Thus was born the idea for TheTownPeople.com! Armed with my own thoughts of what I would like to find in a local site and the great input of my family, friends and neighbors, we started collaborating on what TheTownPeople.com should be. We aimed to create a central site to promote local business, local schools, local government and simply, local living; all while making it comprehensible and easy to navigate.
Once we had all of the elements figured out, the tricky part came in: how to pull it together. To this end I credit and thank our technical department, Darel and Mila. Thank goodness they had more than 2 cents to give!
There were a few things that were particularly important to us in the development of the site and the information it provided. Our primary goal was to create a central place for the communities within Frederick to go to learn about what’s going on around Frederick, but overall, we wanted it to be a fun project that grew with and from the communities input. Hopefully, we included something for everyone; from the political to the history-curious, from the professionally involved to the hobbyist, from the house hunter to the local patron, and of course those who are just looking for something to do.
Please feel free to explore the site. If you see something that interests you, feel free to join the discussion. If you are a business and have something to share, check out Your Story to find out how.
